  7. IMPORTANT NOTE!! I have changed addresses (note at bottom).
  8. Also, this is a final version, and it replaces all 
  9. previous versions. Please distribute as widely as possible.

  11. And yet another collection of icons hits the networks. 
  12. Is there an end to this? Hopefully not, if the Simpsons 
  13. show never ends. I want to thank all the nice people  
  14. who sent me e-mail. If all the suggestions I've gotten 
  15. for new icons is any barometer, I think my icons 
  16. are being well received. A fourth volume is even now
  17. being worked on. I'm going to try for a release date
  18. of around the end of May 1995. I'm still taking icon 
  19. suggestions, so keep 'em coming, folks!  :-)

  21. If by some chance an icon isn't present in this volume, 
  22. it's not by intention. I tried to get to as many requests 
  23. as was humanly possible. What icons I didn't get to
  24. here, I will try to include in volume four (they've been
  25. saved on a list, so I haven't forgotten them). And if
  26. you still don't see them in volume 4, I'm also planning
  27. on a volume 5, and maybe more after that. Iconing the
  28. Simpsons is like eating peanuts--you just can't stop
  29. with one volume!

  32. I would also like to note that I've gotten several things
  33. back from people who have put my icons to interesting
  34. uses. If by some chance you have done some neat thing
  35. with my icons, feel free to send me a copy. I'm delighted
  36. to see the creativity out there!

  39. I would like to take a moment to thank one person 
  40. without whose help I could not have made this third 
  41. volume. I owe him greatly for his generosity. Thanks

  44. Simpsons Gunshy game!
  45. One last note:  If you haven't gotten it yet, do get the
  46. Simpsons Gunshy game. A friend (thanks so much, Mig!) 
  47. used my icons as tiles in this public domain game, and 
  48. the result is great fun for Simpson fans. Look for this game 
  49. at the addresses listed below the paragraph about Dave 
  50. Schutz's icons (mentioned later). And also, look for a 
  51. mega-challenging version of the Simpsons gunshy 
  52. game to appear. This version will feature icons from
  53. all three volumes, and will have 4 different icons matching 
  54. each other. For example, the 4 Flanders family members 
  55. will match each other, the 4 B Sharps will match, and so 
  56. on. I'll call this game "Tough Simpsons Gunshy" when I
  57. upload it.

  65. Okay, I lied. One final note:  I was dissatisfied with the
  66. way Maude Flanders and Mrs. Hibbert looked when I first
  67. iconed them. So I've made a second icon for each in this volume.

  72. These icons are free for your enjoyment. So instead of 
  73. asking for money (which I couldn't do anyway, as they 
  74. are copyrighted characters), all I ask is that if you like 
  75. these icons and keep them, please send me either an 
  76. e-mail or a postcard and let me know what you think 
  77. of them. I thrive on feedback, and would be interested 
  78. in all comments. (And besides, the more mail I get, the
  79. faster I work on the next volume, and the more icons 
  80. will result, as I get suggestions.)

  83. I want thank Dave Schutz for the use of his small 
  84. "bogus" application, that I put my icons on. The
  85. application doesn't really work; double-clicking on it
  86. will do nothing. It's just there to provide funny balloon 
  87. help. When you turn on balloon help in system 7 on the 
  88. Mac and put your cursor over each icon, the text in the 
  89. balloon has been changed to a funny quote from the 
  90. Simpsons show for that character. No sound, as that
  91. would make the file too big for most people to want
  92. to download.

  95. You may freely distribute this collection of Simpson
  96. icons, provided you distribute the collection in its
  97. original form with all the files intact, give me credit, 
  98. and do not charge anything for them. If you do use these
  99. icons, I would be delighted to see what you've done. Feel

  105. 1. You really need system 7.
  106. 2. Do a "Get Info" (File menu) on the original icon file.
  107. 3. Click on the icon in the window; choose "Copy" (Edit menu).
  108. 4. Close the window, then "Get Info" on destination file/disk.
  109. 5. Click on the icon, choose "Paste" (Edit menu).
  110. 6. Exclaim in wonderment at the artistry and subtlety of the icon.
  111. 7. Enthusiastically send e-mail or postcard comments to creator.
